A new AI technique that is more effective than the human eye at predicting psychiatric treatment outcomes :

Researchers at the University of York have developed a new artificial intelligence (AI) technology that they believe is more effective than the human eye at predicting outcomes of psychiatric treatments.

Researchers hope this technology will lead to personalized treatment plans and better health outcomes for brain cancer patients.

A new predictive AI technique predicts radiotherapy failure in brain metastasis. Therefore, this will help oncologists and patients make better decisions and adjust treatment in such a time-sensitive situation.

Brain metastases are cancer tumors that form when primary cancers in the breast, lung, or other parts of the body spread to the brain through the blood or lymphatic system. Of course, there are many treatment options, but not all tumors respond well to radiation. In fact, there are still many cancer patients who continue to grow tumors even after treatment. What makes matters worse is that this only shows up after months of MRI treatments.

These delays are beyond the reach of brain cancer patients. That is why it is so important to predict the response to treatment even before starting treatment.

Now, with machine learning technology, researchers have created artificial neural networks trained on large datasets.

Neural networks are a complex system of interconnected neurons in the nervous system. Neurons are specialized cells whose purpose is to receive, process, and reproduce electrochemical signals. Furthermore, the nervous system consists of two types of cells: neurons and glial cells.

Neurons are excitatory cells that can transmit information over long distances through axonal processes and afferents. Dendrites are branch-like structures in the body of a nerve cell. In addition, dendrites are covered by a thin membrane that can detect (and receive) electrochemical signals.

In addition, the axon is a long process that transmits electrochemical signals away from the cell body. The axon is covered by a thick membrane. It contains a large number of mitochondria. Mitochondria are responsible for producing ATP (adenosine triphosphate), a chemical associated with energy release. After that, I taught the AI to pay more attention to certain areas.

It is equipped with a focus mechanism that helps the AI recognize which part of the MRI images is the most important and focus more on analysis and prediction.

Still more research is needed. So far, the researchers’ findings suggest that AI is a key tool for the micromanagement of brain metastases and even other types of cancer.
