Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague says Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi has not been approached by Al Hilal and will not consider a move to Saudi Arabia.
Recent reports suggest the 35-year-old Argentina international has been offered a £245million move to the Middle East.
Messi’s contract expires in the summer but according to Balague he is close to finalizing a deal to stay at PSG.
“No offer [from Al-Halal],” says Balague.
“PSG and Messi agree to meet in the coming weeks to finalize a deal that will keep him in Paris.”
Messi helped Argentina win the world title in Qatar for the first time since 1986 last month.
He said after the tournament that he intends to continue playing for his country while Balagu said he is determined to win more things in Europe.
“Right now his motivation is to stay in Europe,” the blog added.
“He is favorite to win the Ballon d’Or, he is still in the Champions League, he has big goals after winning the World Cup.
“Not only does it make no sense to approach him with this offer, he doesn’t exist.”
Messi joined PSG from Barcelona in 2021 and made 54 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 24 goals.
